Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight

Seventeen different players scored points, none in double figures, as the Muhlenberg women's basketball team went into Thanksgiving break with its third straight win, 87-44 against Bryn Mawr.

Freshmen JulieAnne Martin and Ashley Polera led the way with nine points apiece for the Mules (3-1, 1-0) in their Centennial Conference opener. Freshman Madison Kirchofer came close to a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.

Of the 19 Mules who saw court time, none played more than 16 minutes, and none of the five starters played more than eight minutes.

Muhlenberg, which has never lost to Bryn Mawr, scored the first 10 points of the game. Junior Brandi Vallely contributed to eight of them with two layups and two assists.

The Owls (1-3, 0-1), coming off a 31-point win in which they scored 82 points in a game for the first time in 19 years, were within 18-10 with 1:50 to play in the first quarter. The Mules then went on a 22-0 run that ended with them ahead 40-10 midway through the second quarter. Polera drove in for a pair of layups in the run and assisted sophomore Meghan Falk on a three-pointer to end it.

Falk finished with seven points and three steals, and junior Chelsea Gary, coming off her MVP performance in the Scotty Wood Tournament, had seven points and five rebounds in eight minutes. Sophomore Carley Hamilton (pictured above) contributed six points and seven rebounds, while freshman Caroline Hogg blocked three shots.
