Maggie Zerbe recorded her first career double-double and sophomore
Rachel Plotke scored all 18 of her points in the first half as the Muhlenberg women's basketball team rolled to its fourth straight win, 73-49 against Ursinus.
Sophomore
Brandi Vallely added a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists for the Mules (14-1, 8-1), who remained tied in the loss column atop the Centennial Conference with McDaniel, their opponent on Saturday.
Since suffering its lone loss of the season to McDaniel, Muhlenberg has reeled off four straight wins, the last three of which followed similar scripts: hot shooting and stingy defense early in the game gave the Mules a big lead, and they were never threatened.
Muhlenberg, which entered the game third in Division III in field-goal percentage defense, held the Bears (7-10, 6-5) without a field goal for the first nine minutes in opening up a 17-1 lead. Plotke scored nine points in the first quarter and hit back-to-back threes at the start of the second quarter to give the Mules a 23-8 advantage.

The Mules did not allow a field goal over the final 4:30 of the half, closing out on a 11-2 run to take a 41-16 lead into the locker room. Plotke
(pictured above) outscored the Ursinus team all by herself in the first half and did not take a shot in the second half, finishing 5-of-7 from the field, including 4-for-6 from three-point range.
Zerbe
(pictured at left) did not score in the first quarter but netted six in the second and six more in the third to finish with a career-high 12 points. She also tied a career high with 12 rebounds to become the fourth different Mule to notch a double-double this season.
Muhlenberg led 57-29 after three quarters, during which Ursinus shot just 20.8 percent from the field.
Vallely, who also had seven rebounds, notched her CC-leading 11th double-double. The 10 assists gave her 154 for the season, just 10 short of the school record and 12 shy of the CC mark.
Senior
Christina Santone finished with six points, four blocked shots and four steals.
