Alec Stavetski, playing in his first game in more than seven weeks, scored all 11 of his points in the second half to spark a comeback effort, but the Muhlenberg men's basketball team fell to Ursinus, 57-43.
Stavetski
(pictured above), a former All-Centennial Conference guard who was injured in a game at Gettysburg in early December, scored his first points on a tipin with 10:37 left in the second half and the Mules (7-9, 4-6) facing an 18-point deficit. That kicked off a 10-1 run - which also included a three-point play and three-point basket by Stavetski - that cut the deficit in half. Muhlenberg would get no closer than nine points, however, and the Bears (8-9, 4-6) made enough free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Junior
Brandon LaRose scored eight points on a night when both teams struggled to find offense. Sophomore
Owen McLeod, making his first start of the season, finished with seven points, seven rebounds and three steals, one of which led to a breakaway dunk.
Freshman
Brendan Hughes gave the Mules good minutes in the second half, scoring five points.
