Photo GalleryAn early blast of A.C. was exactly what the Muhlenberg men's soccer team needed on a hot and humid night.
Sophomore
Anthony Carracino, making his first career start, headed in a cross from junior
Patrick Bell 11:02 into the game, and the Mules went on to defeat Centenary, 2-0, in their opening match of the 2015 season.
The goal was set up when junior
Phil Rahling made a long run down the field and passed off to an overlapping Bell on his left. Bell one-timed his cross into the box to a cutting Carracino, who headed it in stride into the right side of the net. It was the first career point for Bell.
That stood up as the lone goal for most of the game. Freshman
Jordan Schreer made a pair of saves to record the shutout in his debut against a Cyclone squad that was blanked only three times all last season.

After managing only a 9-7 shot advantage in the first half, Muhlenberg held Centenary without a shot in the second 45 minutes. The Mules finally sealed the win on a straight-on blast from junior
Nick Sarkos (pictured above, shooting, and at right, celebrating) with 4:06 left.
The Mules are 30-13-3 in their last 46 openers.
