Three players scored in double figures, but the Muhlenberg men's basketball team lost to City College of New York, 73-66, in the first round of the Scotty Wood Tournament.

The Mules (1-2) will play Alvernia, an 80-64 loser to Hartwick, in the consolation game.

Senior Alec Stavetski (pictured above) led Muhlenberg with 19 points. Junior John Hunter notched his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and junior Brandon LaRose added 13 points.

Sophomore JeanLee Baez contributed eight points and six rebounds in his Mule debut.

Stavetski's three-pointer with 11:55 left in the first half gave Muhlenberg its biggest lead, at 24-14. The teams were within six points of each other for most of the second half, with the Beavers (2-0) taking a lead on a three-point play with 3:26 left and holding off the Mules down the stretch.
