Overseeing Muhlenberg College’s 23 varsity sports, intramural offerings, and recreational programs, Lynn Tubman is a student-centered executive with a distinguished career in collegiate athletics administration spanning NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. Appointed in 2018 as the first permanent female athletic director in college history, Tubman has worked to cultivate a culture centered on academic and athletic distinction, student-athlete well-being, and inclusive leadership.
Tubman prioritizes student-athlete development and experiences through cross-campus collaboration, grants and new programming that focus on student-athlete mental health, life skills, and career readiness. In addition, she drives the department's strategic vision while overseeing operational details, including compliance, conference governance, and extensive budget management.
Under her direction, Muhlenberg athletics has achieved record-breaking milestones. Tubman co-chaired the President’s Athletics Strategic Task Force, leading to the launch of a varsity women’s wrestling program and doubling the department’s full-time assistant coaching staff. During her tenure the college made several major capital improvements — including a new home for Mule baseball in Allentown’s historic Bicentennial Park, and a new on-campus field for softball, turf installations at Scotty Wood Stadium and Jeff Morris ’82 Field, and an expanded 10-year sports medicine partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. In collaboration with the advancement office, athletic giving through the college’s Mule Madness campaign has increased from $189,000 in 2019 to $300,000 in 2026.
Tubman’s leadership has yielded historic competitive and academic success, highlighted by regular post-season success, Centennial Conference championships in three sports, a nationally televised NCAA Division III football semifinal appearance, and a top-15 national super-regional finish for Mule softball.
Prior to Muhlenberg, Tubman spent nine years as Athletic Director at Chestnut Hill College (NCAA DII) following leadership roles at Drexel University, Philadelphia University, and La Roche College. A Pennsylvania native, she earned her bachelor’s degree from DeSales University — where she was a three-time basketball All-American and remains the all-time leading scorer — and holds a master’s in higher education administration from Lehigh University.
