Russ Silverstein joined the Muhlenberg coaching staff for the 2019-20 season, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience.

Silverstein served as head coach at Williamson College of the Trades in 2018-19, qualifying a school-record six wrestlers for the NCWA national tournament. He also was head coach for three years at Valley Forge Military Academy before the program was dropped in 2017. During that time, Valley Forge never endured a losing season, and several wrestlers placed at the regional level. 

Silverstein also coached at Perkiomen Valley High School and Methacton High School, along with volunteering with Malvern Prep Wrestling Club during the freestyle wrestling seasons from 2015 to 2018.

Throughout his career, Silverstein has been able to work alongside various Pennsylvania Hall of Fame coaches, Olympic coaches, world champions and world medalists. This has allowed him to be able to understand what it takes to win and compete at the highest of levels. 

Silverstein served four years on the Pennsylvania Board for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was instrumental in helping the development of the FCA Pennsylvania wrestling chapters form that exists today. He currently works as a self-employed business consultant in various industries for business growth and development. He also serves as a manager for the company Winning Mindset, which focuses on student-athletes in 22 different sports of all ages. The focus is on helping student-athletes obtain a mental edge in their sport and in the classroom. 

Silverstein attributes his success to the sport of wrestling to making sure that the athletes always come first and that they obtain their goals in the classroom and on the mat. He enjoys the family atmosphere and the support that is offered by Muhlenberg College.
