Andy Fahringer

Andy Fahringer

Former Division I All-American Andy Fahringer joined to the Muhlenberg staff for the 2013 season and made an immediate impact. Mule men finished 1-2-4-5 in the javelin at the Centennial Conference Championships, and one went on to earn All-America honors by placing fifth at the NCAA Championships. In 2014, Muhlenberg won gold medals in two throwing events (discus and javelin) for the first time ever.

Muhlenberg has won the Centennial Conference championship in the men’s javelin five of first six years under the tutelage of Fahringer. There has been at least one javelin conference champion, either male or female, each year of Fahringer’s tenure.

Since Fahringer joined the staff at Muhlenberg, he has coached six school record holders (men’s and women’s discus, women’s indoor and outdoor shot put, men’s javelin, and women’s hammer), 23 placewinners at the Centennial Conference Championships (11 of them gold medals), six NCAA qualifiers and two All-Americans.

Fahringer is a 2012 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he was a two-time NCAA qualifier in the javelin and a second-team All-American in 2011. He was a two-time All-ACC performer in the javelin and was twice awarded All-ACC academic team honors. He is also the current UVA record-holder in the javelin with a throw of 247-10.

Fahringer was the 2012 Penn Relays champion in the Championship division of collegiate javelin and was a 2012 Olympics Trials qualifier, finishing 16th. Fahringer finished in seventh place at the 2017 US National Championships and trains alongside his athletes at the Muhlenberg facilities.

Fahringer attended nearby Whitehall High School, where he was a back-to-back District 11 Champion in the discus and javelin in 2006 and 2007 and qualified for the PIAA state championships in all three throws.
