Amy Filanowski

Amy Filanowski

After two years as an assistant coach in track & field, Amy Filanowski was named head coach of Muhlenberg cross country and track & field in the summer of 2024.

In her first year as head coach, Filanowski coached national qualifiers in track and field both indoors and outdoors, with the outdoor qualifier earning All-America honors. The Mule teams combined to break 14 school records during the year, with the men's 4x100-meter relay team setting a Centennial Conference record.

In her two years as jumps and multi coach with the Mules, Filanowski coached 10 Centennial Conference medalists, including seven CC champions - four in the high jump, two in the long jump and one in the triple jump. Two Muhlenberg jumpers were named Most Outstanding Performers for field events at the CC championships, and one was named Metro Region field athlete of the year.

Mule jumpers and multi-event athletes combined for 20 all-time top 10 performances in the two years, breaking or tying school records in the long jump, high jump and heptathlon, and one earned second-team All-America honors in the high jump.

A 2010 graduate of Bucknell University, Filanowski joined the Mules after four years as an assistant at Kutztown University, where she coached the jumpers, sprinters, hurdlers and multi-event athletes. In addition to coaching athletes who combined for 30 program top 10 performances and three school records, she also coached a first-team All-American in the women’s high jump.

Prior to Kutztown, Filanowski served three years as an assistant at her alma mater, coaching the high jumpers and multi athletes. Accomplishments of student-athletes under her tutelage included three school records in the high jump along with multiple top 10 performances, Patriot League champions and ECAC/IC4A and NCAA qualifiers.

Filanowski also spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Misericordia University, where she earned a master's degree in organizational management. While there, she coached the Division III national champion in the high jump, both indoors and outdoors, and the Cougar women won back-to-back Middle Atlantic Conference indoor and outdoor titles during her two-year stint.

Filanowski got her coaching start at Allegheny College, training jumpers, hurdlers and multi athletes for two seasons, while also serving as recruiting coordinator and strength coach for the men's and women's cross country teams.

As a four-year student-athlete at Bucknell, the former Amy Mantush graduated as a dual major in education and animal behavior. She was a two-year captain for the Bison and earned back-to-back Patriot League female field athlete of the year honors. She was a 12-time All-Patriot League honoree while competing in the high jump, triple jump, long jump and pentathlon. The school record-holder in the high jump both indoors (5-8) and outdoors (5-7) at the time of her graduation, she was inducted into the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
