Leslie Benintend is the winningest coach in the history of Muhlenberg women's soccer with an outstanding record of 228-165-40 (.573) in her 23 seasons.
Benintend became just the third female in College athletic history to record 200 wins when the Mules defeated Franklin & Marshall, 1-0, on October 12, 2013.
Benintend has led the Mules to 13 appearances in conference, regional or national tournaments in the last 20 years, including NCAA Tournament berths following Centennial Conference championships in 2000, 2001 and 2003 and an at-large berth in 2009. Muhlenberg reached the regional finals in both 2001 and 2003, finishing the season ranked 17th and 23rd, respectively, in Division III in those years.
Muhlenberg won back-to-back ECAC Mid-Atlantic championships in 1998 and 1999. The program also had All-Americans in 2000 and 2001, its first two ever. The Mules won the CC regular-season title in 2002 and 2009.
Benintend came to Muhlenberg from nearby Kutztown University, where she coached in 1994.
Benintend was a three-time soccer All-American at her alma mater, Cortland State, and was named the school's female athlete of the year in 1992. She played in the 1990 NCAA Division III championship game and was the 1991 SUNYAC Eastern Division player of the year.
Following her collegiate career, Benintend spent one year as head junior varsity coach at Cortland State and one year as graduate assistant coach at East Stroudsburg University.
