Jason Toedter

Jason Toedter, who earned conference honors as both a player and coach, was named the new head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Muhlenberg College in July 2018.

“I am exceedingly grateful that Muhlenberg has given me this opportunity,” said Toedter upon his hiring. “It is an honor to represent an institution with such a long tradition of excellence both academically and athletically.

“When I felt the determination and commitment of the players and the enthusiastic, supportive character of the athletic department, I realized that Muhlenberg is the best possible environment for me to excel as a coach. I am excited to get to work and that is a great feeling!”

Both Mule programs showed immediate improvement in Toedter's first year. The men won six matches, their most in 10 years, and were alive for a Centennial Conference playoff berth in the last week of the regular season. The young women's team recorded a pair of wins, including their first CC victory in two years.

One of the most successful men’s tennis players in Moravian College history, Toedter was the MAC champion and player of the year in 2004. A four-time all-conference selection, Toedter is the all-time wins leader at Moravian with 54. He was named to the MAC 100 Century Team for the 1994-2003 era.

Toedter returned to his alma mater to serve as assistant coach for both teams from 2005 to 2007 and associate head coach for women’s tennis from 2010 and 2014. He helped the Greyhound women to the MAC championship and an NCAA Tournament bid in 2007 and the Landmark Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2011. In 2014 he was part of the Landmark coaching staff of the year.

For the two years before coming to Muhlenberg, Toedter was head coach of the fledgling Delaware Valley University tennis programs. He coached the Aggie women to their first-ever MAC Freedom win in 2017.

Toedter, who also was an assistant at Division I Lehigh University for the 2004-05 campaign, has been an instructor at East Brunswick Racquet Club, Princeton Racquet Club and Morris County Golf Club. He is a Professional Tennis Registry Certified Instructor and United States Racquet Stringers Association Certified Stringer.

Toedter graduated from Moravian in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in English and philosophy. He went on to earn his master’s in public policy with a concentration in labor policy from The Bloustein School of Public Policy at Rutgers University in 2010.
