Mario McIntyre joined the Muhlenberg coaching staff for the 2024 season as an assistant coach with the linebacking corps.
McIntyre came to the Mules after serving as defensive line coach for the inaugural season of football at Eastern University in 2023.
McIntyre enjoyed a successful playing career in the Middle Atlantic Conference as a defensive end at Stevenson University. As a team captain for the Mustangs in 2021, he set a single-season sack record with a MAC-high 12½. He also started as a redshirt junior in 2019 and had a team high 11½ tackles for loss.
After graduating from Stevenson, McIntyre spent seven months playing professionally and coaching in Serbia with the Kragujevic Wild Boars in the Central European Football League. He served as a player/coach for a defense that allowed a league-best 11 points per game and had the opportunity to teach techniques and tactics to players of multiple ages and skill levels. He played both defensive end and fullback and scored a touchdown on both sides of the ball.
McIntyre was named to the NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-America Team in 2021.
