Brett Sawyer rejoined the Muhlenberg football staff in 2020 after 17 years coaching in the Ivy League, Patriot League and ACC.
Sawyer is a 1998 graduate of Muhlenberg, where he was a three-year starter on the offensive line, earning All-Centennial Conference first-team honors at center as a senior for Coach Mike Donnelly. He stayed on to coach the linebackers on Donnelly's staff the year after he graduated.
Sawyer spent the following season as tight ends coach at Princeton University before serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Virginia, working with the offensive line, for the next two years while earning his master's in social foundations of education.
After two seasons back at Princeton and two more at the University of Pennsylvania, Sawyer spent the next nine years as offensive line coach at Lehigh University. He also served as recruiting coordinator and run game coordinator while there, helping the Mountain Hawks to three Patriot League championships.
Sawyer left full-time coaching in 2015 and found success in the business world. He currently works for Ceridian HCM, Inc., where he leads and manages a team of business development professionals.
