Teresa Mathews joined the Muhlenberg field hockey coaching staff for the 2023 season, bringing more than a decade of experience as a player and coach at the Division I level.
A 2014 graduate of Monmouth University, Mathews served as associate head coach at Lehigh University in 2022, helping guide the Mountain Hawks to the Patriot League championship and their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. She also began her coaching career at Lehigh, serving as a volunteer assistant in 2014 and a graduate assistant for the next two seasons while earning her master's in mental health counseling and human services.
In between, Mathews spent on year at St. Francis University as first assistant and four as an assistant at Northeastern University.Â
As a player, Mathews was a three-year starter for Monmouth, compiling a 26-20 career record with 8 shutouts and helping her team reach the Northeast Conference final two straight years.Â
Mathews, who earned her bachelor's degree in psychology, also has considerable experience as a club field hockey coach.
