After a four-year career with the Muhlenberg baseball team, David Anderson returned to his alma mater as pitching coach for the 2016 season.
Anderson was one of the Mules' top starting pitchers for his final three seasons. As a junior, he won three games and compiled a staff-leading 3.14 ERA for a team that qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs. He was named CC pitcher of the week after throwing eight shutout innings vs. York.
Anderson served as a team captain during his senior season and led the team in innings pitched and strikeouts while recording two wins and a save.
Between his junior and senior years, Anderson had a stellar summer for the Geneva Twins of the New York Collegiate Baseball League, going 9-0 with a 1.03 ERA over 60 innings, earning first-team all-league honors and starting the NYCBL all-star game.
Anderson also enjoyed a successful postcollegiate baseball career. He started 2015 with the Newburgh Newts of the independent North Country Baseball League and had a 2.38 ERA and seven saves in 16 appearances, holding opponents to a .194 batting average.Â
Invited to a tryout with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League, Anderson was signed a week later and went 2-2 with a 2.67 ERA in seven starts.
Anderson was signed back by the Bluefish for the 2016 season and traded to the New Jersey Jackals of the CanAm League.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Anderson graduated from Muhlenberg in 2015 with a double major in business administration and media & communication.
