In the first of four road matches in a span of five days this week, the Muhlenberg volleyball team was swept at Stockton, 26-24, 25-15, 25-20.
The Mules (4-6) played a back-and-forth first set that was tied at 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21. Muhlenberg had two set points after a kill by freshman
Lizzie Steinkamp made it 24-22, but the Ospreys (6-2) rallied to score the next four points.
Steinkamp recorded kills on her first five attempts and ended the first set with 7 kills in only 11 attempts. She finished the match with a career-high 16 kills, hitting .433. Steinkamp is averaging 3.67 kills per set and hitting .330 in her last three matches.
Stockton led comfortably the entire second set and built an 18-11 in the third before the Mules made a late charge. Three straight kills by Steinkamp cut the gap to 18-14, and one by junior
Abigail Oswari brought Muhlenberg to within two at 21-19. The Ospreys stopped the run by scoring the next three points, however.
Oswari finished with 9 kills and 9 digs, just missing a double-double. Junior
Maddy Budris (18) and senior
Jenny Ryan (16) combined for 34 assists.Â
Senior
Chloe Gaglione (pictured above) recorded 16 digs, a season high for a three-set match. It was her third consecutive match with at least 16 digs.
