Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Five-Goal First Powers Mules Past Red Devils

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team scored seven of the game's first eight goals en route to a commanding 15-7 win over Centennial Conference foe Dickinson.

Junior Emma Youngling followed up her eight-goal performance last Saturday by leading both teams with five goals in this one, including two in the first quarter. That was part of a 5-0 first period that put some distance between the two teams. The closest the Red Devils would come to tying the game back up would come with 7:01 remaining in the third, when the visitors would make it 9-5 in favor of the Mules.

Samantha Kalinoglu quickly put an end to Dickinson's push with an empty net free position goal a little over a minute later. The empty net situation was created when the Red Devils' goaltender stepped out to check a Muhlenberg player and committed a foul, meaning that she had to stand behind Kalinoglu on the ensuing free position attempt.

Despite an Alyssa Hartnett goal being taken off the board a few minutes later, the Mules never looked back, putting home three straight goals to start the fourth for an eight-goal lead.

Hartnett still finished with three goals and five points, both second to Youngling in the game. Annalisa Bio continued to excel in her role as a goal scorer, putting home a pair herself. Meaghan Haughney had one of her best games of the season; the junior saved 13 of 20 shots on net, and recorded her best save percentage in a game where she faced 20 shots on goal or more (.741)

Youngling's first score of the game gave her 50 for the season, giving her back-to-back 50-goal seasons after she scored 63 last year. She's just the fourth Mule in history to accomplish that feat, joining Stephanie Umbach (2013-15), former teammate Nicole Steiner (2023-24), and Courtney Tapkas (2005-06).

While neither team finished with an abnormal number of free position attempts, the whistles were certainly active in this one. The teams combined for 10 cards including three yellows and two team cards.
