The Muhlenberg baseball team came back to tie twice but was walked off in the bottom of the ninth and fell at Haverford, 4-3.
Trailing 2-0 after five, the Mules (7-17, 2-6) had two out and one on in the sixth before three consecutive singles tied the game. Sophomore
Jason Hughes drove in the first run, and senior
Thomas Pranzo brought home the second.
The Fords (9-16, 3-5) quickly went back in front with a leadoff home in the bottom of the sixth. Muhlenberg also had a leadoff extra-base hit in the top of the seventh, a double by sophomore
Thomas Rorick, who came home on a single by junior
Spencer Hobson to knot the score once again.
Muhlenberg stranded a runner in scoring position after Pranzo
(pictured above) hit a double in the eighth, and the Mules went down 1-2-3 in the ninth.
Haverford's leadoff hitter in the ninth was hit by a pitch, sacrificed to second, and scored the winning run on a double.
Junior
Luke Foley tossed a magnificent game for the Mules, tying a career high with seven innings pitched and allowing only five hits.
Pranzo, Rorick, Hobson, and sophomore
Marius Haughton recorded two hits apiece.
