A lengthy second-half run by Union proved to be the difference once more as the Muhlenberg Mules lost to the Garnet Chargers by a score of 12-5 Saturday afternoon.
After falling behind 5-2, the Mules worked to bring the score within one right before half courtesy of
Luc Belvill, who recorded back-to-back tallies for the visitors. The second of those came when the sophomore drove hard to the net, skirted around a defender, and fired a rocket past the netminder with four seconds remaining in the half.
Despite the momentum entering the break, the Mules didn't light up the scoreboard again until
Connor Sutton found the back of the net with just over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Over those 20 minutes, the hosts went on a 6-0 run that put the contest out of reach.
Belvill's two goals gave him the team lead with 12 on the season, while Sutton also had an assist to finish the day with a pair of points.
Aidan Fairweather got the Mules on the board in the first quarter with a laser that snuck past the goalie and knotted the game at one.
Flynn Decker scored for the visitors as well.
