Seven different Mules found the back of the net, but a seven-goal first quarter by the no. 9 Gettysburg Bullets was too much for the visitors to overcome, as Muhlenberg fell 13-8 for the first time this season.
The Bullets jumped on the visitors early, scoring a pair in the first two minutes of action and five over the first six minutes. From there, the game was nearly even, but that early 5-0 advantage ended up being the difference.
Halina Homiak took matters into her own hands and got the Mules on the board midway through the first. The sophomore skirted past a pair of defenders, dodged a third, and ripped a shot into the cage from just beyond the crease to complete the highlight.
After three second-quarter tallies by Gettysburg, the visitors found their footing in the third.
Taylor Dzama (

Alyssa Hartnett converted on a free position shot shortly afterwards.
Annalisa Bio then made it three straight Muhlenberg tallies with a goal of her own to make the score 10-5. Despite the Mules' momentum, they could climb no closer than within five.
The Mules found themselves on the wrong end of the turnover differential (22-18), totaled fewer ground balls (18-24), and won three fewer draws (10-13). Those three differences, as well as the stout Gettysburg defense, led to the visitors shooting just 17 times all game. Those 17 shots marked a season-low (Muhlenberg's previous low was 24 against Rowan on February 28).
The loss is the Mules' first of the 2026 campaign. Their nine straight wins to start the year set a program record for most consecutive victories in one season. With a win over no. 14 TCNJ on Wednesday and a solid showing against a top 10 team in Gettysburg, Muhlenberg should receive some consideration in next week's edition of the national rankings.
