The Muhlenberg softball team opened the 2026 campaign just as it did in 2025, sweeping the Kean Cougars by scores of 11-0 and 5-1.
The Mules took game one handily behind a stellar performance in the circle by
Morgan Bobrowski and three separate multi-score innings. For her part, Bobrowski tossed five shutout innings while striking out seven. The sophomore hurler was on cruise control for the first three frames, striking out six while facing the minimum before allowing her first baserunner on a fourth-inning single.
After a 1-2-3 first, the Mules doubled their way onto the scoreboard in the second.
Lillie Teague led off with a two-bagger before
Hailey Godin did the same to put the visitors up 1-0. A walk put two on for freshman
Kineta Bradley (

From there, Muhlenberg would tack on four more runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth. Godin doubled to start the fourth-inning rally and tripled home a run as part of the sixth-inning rally, giving her a 3-for-4 line to start the season. Senior
Maddy Svenningsen also tripled in that decisive sixth inning, driving in two in the process.
A three-run first inning in the second game of the twin bill threatened to make that one as lopsided as the first. With one out in that first frame, freshman speedster
Josie Hoffacker dropped a bunt single to the third baseman and promptly stole second. Senior
Scooter Hulsen took advantage of the runner in scoring position, singling up the middle for the early 1-0 lead. One out later, the newfound slugger Godin clubbed a double down the right field line. An error by the right fielder allowed the runner to score and Godin to reach third base. One more run would score before the last out was recorded, giving freshman starter
Eden Clark a three-run lead to work with.
As it would turn out, Clark did not need all three of those scores; the rookie was quite effective in her debut outing, going six strong innings while allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight. Â
Abigail Kim came in in the seventh and retired the side in order on just seven pitches to nab the sweep.
Godin led the way for the Mules, racking up five hits and four extra-base hits on the day. The outfielder has already doubled her extra-base hit total from last season (two) in 38 fewer at-bats. Freshman
Izzy Wilmot singled three times and scored a run, while Teague had a pair of doubles and scored three runs.
