The Muhlenberg Mules honored their five seniors before taking on the nationally ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays in a Centennial Conference match on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
The hosts faced a tall task in taking on the No. 18 Blue Jays, but did a good job of holding the visitors under wraps for the contest's first 25 minutes. Senior keeper
Megan Stairs was active throughout the match, but one of her best stops came when she dove to her left and batted the ball away in the 17th minute. She finished with 11 saves on the afternoon.
On the back line, senior
Ivy Dias and freshman
Jillian Gaffney each made quite a few plays to break up runs by the opposition.
The Blue Jays managed to break through midway through the first half with a pair of goals. Both scores were headers, one coming off a corner kick and the other following a free kick from about 30 yards out.
Before the match, seniors Stairs, Dias,
Ava Reinl,
Kaela MacDougall, and
Izzy D'Arienzo and their families were honored during the Senior Day festivities for their time at Muhlenberg.
