The Muhlenberg volleyball team split a tri-match at Gettysburg, coming back from a set down to take a non-conference match against Stevenson in five.
The five-setter vs. Stevenson was the school-record-tying eighth of the season for the Mules (11-12, 2-4) - their third with a 17-15 fifth set. Muhlenberg, which did not play a five-set match all last season, previously went the distance eight times in 1999, 2003, and 2018.
Muhlenberg trailed 11-10 in the fifth set before scoring four straight points to close to within one of finishing off the win. But the Mustangs (12-10) saved three match points to tie the set at 14-all. They saved another one at 15-14 before the Mules finally scored the final two points to end the thriller.
At 15-all, junior
Abigail Oswari knocked a kill down the line on the right side, and at 16-15, a back-row attack attempt by Stevenson went into the net.
Oswari had a tremendous match, setting a career high with 21 kills to surpass the career milestone of 500 kills. She now has 509 in less than three complete seasons. Oswari recorded 5 kills to go along with a service ace in the fifth set alone, and she also scored the last three points of the Mules' 25-23 win in the pivotal third set on two kills and a combined block with freshman
Eva Myers.
Senior
Chloe Gaglione also enjoyed a milestone, recording 33 digs in the two matches, including 23 against Stevenson, to top 600 digs for her career.
With 36 total assists, senior
Jenny Ryan moved into fifth place on the Mules' all-time list with 1839 career assists.
Senior
Kelliann Keogh tied a season high with 10 kills against Stevenson, while junior
Olivia Bruno and Myers contributed 8 and 7, respectively.
Junior
Maddy Budris (pictured above) matched her career best with 25 assists in the Stevenson match, adding a season-high 10 digs and a career-high 6 service aces, including three in a row in the fourth set.
Sophomore
Andrea Romero-Agosto, who tied Keogh for a team-high 7 kills against Gettysburg, hit .379 with 13 kills in only 29 attempts vs. Stevenson.
