Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Shoots Past Bryn Mawr

The Muhlenberg women's basketball team shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and breezed to a 65-43 win at Bryn Mawr.

The victory completed a season sweep for the Mules (9-9, 4-4), who have never lost to the Owls (5-13, 1-7) in 57 all-time meetings.

Muhlenberg had one of its closest calls in the series when it played at Bryn Mawr last year, needing overtime for a 73-66 win. This time there was no such drama: The Mules ended the first half on a 15-3 run to open up a 17-point lead at the break and led by at least 20 points for the entire fourth quarter.

Freshman Linzy Roberson led Muhlenberg with 17 points. Junior Lyndsey Costigan (13) and senior Katie McGrath (11) also scored in double figures.

The Mules went almost four minutes from the opening tip before making their first field goal and trailed 5-1 before going on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good. The last points came when Costigan blocked a shot on the perimeter, snagged the rebound, and passed ahead to Roberson, who dribbled in from halfcourt for a layup.

It was 24-19 midway through the second quarter before Muhlenberg put the game away, allowing only one field goal the rest of the period while scoring on eight of its next 11 possessions. Freshman Maggie Burns (pictured above) scored all four of her points during the run.

McGrath's three three-pointers gave her 85 for her career, moving her into the top 15 on the Mules' all-time list.
