The Muhlenberg field hockey team rolled past Moravian, 5-0, to notch its first win of the season and retain possession of the Sodexo Cup.
The Mules (1-1) scored at least once in every quarter, putting the game away with two goals in a span of 1:41 in the fourth quarter. They also found the back of the cage in every quarter in last year's 4-0 Crosstown Clash and have scored against Moravian in 11 straight quarters.
Sophomore
Haley Foster had a breakout game, contributing to four of the five goals. She scored three of them - the first three goals of her career - and assisted on another.
Seniors
Erin DiSandro and
Abba Diglio added a goal apiece.
Foster converted a pass from Diglio off a penalty corner just four minutes into the game to get Muhlenberg off to a good start. She added goals in the third and fourth quarters, recording the first hat trick by a Mule since DiSandro's last year against Vassar. Foster is the first Muhlenberg player with three goals and an assist in a game since 2015, and the first to net her first three career goals in the same game since 2003.
The Mules held the Greyhounds to six shots in the game, with junior
Maddie Schwartz and freshman
Brenna Fitzpatrick combining to make three saves for the shutout.
