Summer Check-In: Daniel Beagle

Muhlenberg athletes are spending the summer of 2025 enjoying fantastic experiences on campus, in their hometowns, and across the country.

Rising junior baseball pitcher Daniel Beagle, a double major in business administration and finance, followed in the footsteps of two former Mule athletes in his internship at Johnson Kendall & Johnson.

This summer, I've had the invaluable opportunity to intern at Johnson Kendall and Johnson (JKJ), a prominent insurance brokerage firm. My role primarily involves assisting the client-facing teams, which includes preparing for client meetings, conducting industry research, and helping to develop tailored insurance solutions. This experience has given me a comprehensive look into the intricate world of commercial insurance and risk management.

I chose to pursue this internship at JKJ because I was eager to broaden my understanding of various sectors within the business world. Having explored other areas previously, I felt that the insurance industry, particularly brokerage, offered a unique blend of financial services, client relations, and strategic problem-solving. My goal was to gain practical experience in a field that demands strong analytical skills and interpersonal communication, and JKJ's reputation and focus on client relationships made it an ideal fit for achieving these objectives.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my internship has been the opportunity to travel and meet new people during client meetings. These interactions provide a dynamic environment where I can observe seasoned professionals in action, learn about diverse businesses, and contribute to real-world solutions. It's incredibly rewarding to see how the work we do directly impacts clients, and the exposure to different industries and business models has been fascinating.

Furthermore, the collaborative atmosphere at JKJ, working alongside former Muhlenberg football players Michael Hnatkowsky '21 and Matt Musilli '18, has made the learning process even more engaging and supportive.

Beyond the day-to-day tasks, I've had some truly memorable experiences. A definite highlight was getting the chance to meet Eagles legend Malcolm Jenkins during a firm event. These unique interactions, combined with the daily opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful projects, have made my internship at JKJ an exceptionally rewarding and enriching experience.
