The Muhlenberg softball team was eliminated from the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 2-1 loss to Ursinus.
The Mules, who ended their season with a record of 21-20, saw all three of their playoff games decided by one run in the final at-bat. They won the first one, against Washington College, but dropped the next two on walkoffs to Swarthmore and Ursinus.
Muhlenberg took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh thanks to a second-inning RBI single by senior
Kaya Mahy and the outstanding pitching of freshman
Morgan Bobrowski, who allowed only two baserunners, one on an error, in the first six innings. Bobrowski retired the leadoff batter in the seventh, but back-to-back doubles tied the score.
After a single, senior
Justine Bergara came in for her school-record 30th appearance of the season, but the first batter she faced singled in the winning run.
Mahy
(pictured above) recorded two hits, including a double, to go along with a stolen base and her RBI single in the last game of her career. Sophomore
Peri Kahn also went 2-for-3.
