Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Pulls Away with Big Third Quarter

The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team open up a close game in the third quarter and went on to defeat Ursinus, 16-13, in its final scheduled home game of the season.

The Mules (12-3, 4-2), whose 12 wins are one shy of the school record, remained in a tie for third place in the Centennial Conference with one week remaining in the regular season.

Muhlenberg trailed 7-6 with less than two minutes remaining in the first half before goals by senior Emily Vaughan and junior Ava Milia produced the game's fifth lead change.

Ahead 8-7 at the half, the Mules outscored the Bears (6-9, 2-4) by a 6-0 margin in the third quarter, then netted the first goal of the fourth to complete a 9-0 run.

Muhlenberg led 16-9 before Ursinus scored the last four goals of the game.

Vaughan's goal was her only one of the game, but she made history on defense by causing 5 turnovers, becoming the program's all-time leader with 112 career caused turnovers. She also picked up 4 ground balls, moving into a tie for third on the all-time list with 162 in her career.

Milia finished with a season-high 5 goals, connecting on all of her shots. Senior Jillian Kubikowski (4 goals) and sophomore Emma Youngling (3) also recorded hat tricks. Youngling now has a team-leading 54 goals and Kubikowski has 51, making them the first pair of Mule teammates to score at least 50 goals in the same season.

Junior Abba Diglio (pictured above) contributed a career-high 5 caused turnovers, 4 draw controls and 3 ground balls.
