Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Stifles F&M

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team did not allow a goal in the first 47 minutes and went on to a historic 9-3 win at Franklin & Marshall.

In recording their second road win of the week against a Centennial Conference team that is receiving votes in the Division III poll, the Mules (7-7, 3-2) tied the school record for fewest goals allowed in a CC game, achieved three times previously. It's the first time they've ever held a CC opponent scoreless through the first three quarters of a game.

Muhlenberg allowed only seven shots while forcing 10 turnovers in the first half against the Diplomats (10-3, 4-1), who came in ranked third in Division III in fewest turnovers per game.

The F&M defense, the third-stingiest in Division III entering the game, nearly matched the Mules in the first quarter, but sophomore Liam Ledwith scored from close range off a pass from sophomore Jack Bill with just 3.2 ticks on the clock for the first goal of the game.

Muhlenberg also scored in the final minute of the second quarter, with senior Tyler Kitchen netting the second of his back-to-back goals with 37.2 seconds showing to make it 5-0.

Sophomore Daniel Friedel scored consecutive goals in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 9-1 before the Dips put in a couple of goals in the final 2:02.

Friedel (pictured above) finished with 3 goals for the second consecutive game, notching his sixth career hat trick. Sophomore Chase Kusko recorded 3 assists.

Junior Max Kunnath made 8 saves while allowing only a pair of goals. Senior Griffin Minuto went 8-for-14 on faceoffs, while senior Matthew Hochegger scooped up 4 ground balls and scored a goal. Sophomore Brendan Boyd also picked up 4 ground balls.
