The Muhlenberg baseball team overcame an early six-run deficit to defeat Rosemont, 14-9, in its final tuneup for Centennial Conference play.
The Mules (10-9), who surpassed their win total from all last season, trailed 8-2 after two innings but flipped the script with three in the third, one in the fourth and six in the fifth.
Long balls played a big part of the early scoring for Muhlenberg. After freshman
Salvatore Cifalino hit his first career home run in the second, graduate student
Jack Kent and sophomore
Marc Quarrie went back-to-back in the third.
Kent's home run, his fourth of the season, was an inside-the-park round-tripper to deep center. On the next pitch, Quarrie hit his seventh homer over the fence. Quarrie is only the eighth player in program history with seven four-baggers in a season, and less than halfway into his sophomore season, he is tied for seventh on the program's all-time list with 12 career home runs.
Quarrie has been involved both times the Mules have hit back-to-back home runs this season. It's the first time Muhlenberg has gone back-to-back twice in the same season since 1980.
It was back-to-back hits that put Muhlenberg in front in the fifth. RBI hits by four straight batters – Cifalino

Aidan Legner, Kent (double) and Quarrie turned an 8-6 deficit into a 10-8 lead. Senior
Brendan Hughes capped the rally with a two-run single.
While the offense was adding runs, the pitching staff kept the Ravens (5-14) off the board for six consecutive innings. Freshman
Shane Ohl tossed the first two, picking up his second win, and senior
Ethan Brochin and junior
Evan Virno followed with two more apiece.
Quarrie and Hughes (two doubles) finished with four hits each, while Kent went 3-for-7.
