Despite quick starts in both halves, the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team lost at home to 18th-ranked Cortland, 10-7.
The Mules (4-4) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 7:02 on goals by seniors
Tyler Kitchen and
Ben Falch, both assisted by senior
Nolan DiSora (pictured above).
Muhlenberg scored only one more time the rest of the half, however, and went into the break trailing, 6-3.
Junior
Michael Drago won the opening faceoff of the second half and passed to sophomore
Jack Bill for a goal with just 7 seconds elapsed. Sophomore
Patrick Crawley scored from a tough angle a little more than three minutes later to bring the Mules to within one.
Again the Red Dragons (6-1) closed the door, allowing only one goal in the next 17 minutes while scoring four of their own to open up a 10-6 advantage. Sophomore
Chase Kusko put in his second goal with 9:39 remaining to make the score 10-7, but there was no more scoring the rest of the game.
Junior
Max Kunnath made 10 saves at the back of a defense that held in check a Cortland team that had averaged 15.0 goals in its previous five games. Sophomore
Brendan Boyd caused 3 turnovers and picked up 4 ground balls, and junior
Luke Schwartzberg scooped up 5 ground balls.
