Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Wins Coin Flip After Losing Game

The Muhlenberg men's basketball team went 1-1 on the final day of the regular season, losing a game but winning a coin flip.

On the court, the Mules fell to Gettysburg, 79-53. Combined with Dickinson's 66-55 win against Ursinus, that left the Mules (8-17, 7-11) and Red Devils tied for the sixth and final Centennial Conference playoff berth. Since the tie cannot be broken by any of the CC's tiebreaking procedures, the teams will play a tiebreaker game to determine the final playoff spot.

The site of the game was determined by a coin flip, and Muhlenberg won that. The Mules will host Dickinson in the tiebreaker game on Monday at 7:40, with the winner taking the sixth seed and the right to face third-seeded Franklin & Marshall in a first-round game on Wednesday.

Gettysburg used a big second half to clinch the top seed in the playoffs. Senior Giovanni Rubino beat the first-half buzzer with a three-pointer to put Muhlenberg ahead 36-34 at the break, but the regionally ranked Bullets (19-6, 15-3) outscored the Mules 45-17 in the final 20 minutes to win going away.

Junior Jayson Williams-Johnson (pictured above) led Muhlenberg with 16 points. Rubino finished with 13 points, and junior Luke Gordos added 12.
