The Muhlenberg men's basketball team fell at home to McDaniel, 76-69 in overtime.
Despite the loss, the Mules (8-15, 7-9) remain in the thick of the Centennial Conference playoff chase. They are in between Ursinus (8-8) and Dickinson (6-10) in the race for the final two berths and can clinch a spot in the six-team playoff field with a win against Ursinus in Wednesday's home finale and a Dickinson loss at Franklin & Marshall.
Playing without the second-leading scorer in the CC, Muhlenberg led for the majority of the game but could never quite put the Green Terror (10-13, 5-11) away. McDaniel overcame an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to go up 62-60 - its first lead since 16-14 - in the final minute of regulation. Junior
Jayson Williams-Johnson tied the game at 62-all on a runner with 30.2 seconds left, and the Mules got a stop at the other end to send the game into overtime.
Muhlenberg did not make a field goal until the final minute of the overtime period, however, and the Green Terror went 7-of-8 from the line down the stretch to seal the win.
Williams-Johnson led the Mules with 18 points, while freshman
Liam Gorman came off the bench to score a career-high 14 points, with 11 coming in the second half and overtime.
Junior
Luke Gordos finished with 13 points, and sophomore
Drew Greene (pictured above), making his first career start, contributed 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
