Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Breezes Past Rosemont

Hot shooting in the first half propelled the Muhlenberg men's basketball team to a 71-51 home win against Rosemont.

The Mules (4-3) made eight of their first nine field-goal attempts, including five from three-point range, to open up a 21-4 lead in the first six and-a-half minutes.

Muhlenberg finished the half shooting 65.4 percent from the field and 66.7 percent (8-of-12) on threes, taking a 46-21 advantage into the break.

A three-pointer by senior Luke Gordos and a free throw by freshman Drew Buck to start the second half extended the lead to 29 points.

With the big lead, the Mules turned to their deep bench for the final 10-plus minutes. A total of 21 players appeared in the game, and three Muhlenberg freshmen - Colin Boyle, Jackson Bryce and Jack Woodard - scored their first career points. Freshman Mike Jones pulled down 4 rebounds in four minutes in his collegiate debut.

Sophomore Gavin D'Iorio was the only Mule in double figures, scoring 16 points on the strength of 4-of-6 three-point shooting. Gordos, sophomore Peter Stanton-Shepherd and freshman Arinze Achufusi netted 8 points apiece.

Senior Giovanni Rubino tied his career high with 9 assists.

Muhlenberg is 4-0 at home heading into Saturday's 2024 home finale against Marymount.
