The Muhlenberg women's basketball team came back from a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to take a lead but ultimately lost at Washington College, 46-41.
Playing for the first time in four weeks, the Mules (8-4, 3-4) took a while to find their form. They scored only 23 points in the first 32 minutes and trailed 35-23 with less than eight minutes to play.
Muhlenberg allowed only one field goal the rest of the game, though, and went on a 16-3 run to take its first lead of the game, at 39-38, on a four-point play by sophomore
Katie McGrath, with 1:40 to play.
The Shorewomen (7-4, 4-2) responded quickly, reclaiming the advantage on a pair of free throws nine seconds later, and held on for the win.
Junior
Ava Connolly scored 8 of her 11 points in the fourth-quarter run, hitting one three-pointer and making all three free throws after getting fouled while attempting another. Junior
Rachel Saxton also finished with 11 points.
McGrath
(pictured above) netted a season-high 8 points.
Muhlenberg held Washington to 23.5-percent shooting over the final three quarters in keeping an opponent under 50 points for the eighth time in 12 games this season.
