The Muhlenberg women's basketball team had its worst offensive game of the season and fell at home to Swarthmore, 57-37.
Just four days after scoring 66 points against Washington, one of the top-ranked defenses in Division III, the Mules (11-9, 6-9) shot just over 20 percent from the field against the Garnet (10-10, 8-7).Â
Still, Muhlenberg trailed only 29-26 three minutes into the second half and had a possession with a chance to tie the game. But the Mules did not make a field goal the rest of the quarter, which ended with Swarthmore leading by 12. The offensive woes continued in the fourth quarter as the Garnet pulled away.
Juniors
Rachel Saxton and
Ava Connolly led the Mules with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Junior
Jenna Stockfeder pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Junior
Megan Winters (pictured above) had 5 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.
The loss left Muhlenberg in a tie for seventh place in the Centennial Conference with five games remaining in the regular season.
