The Muhlenberg women's soccer team scored first but ultimately fell at Swarthmore, 4-1.
Just 2:32 into the game, sophomore
Anna May ran onto a loose ball, dribbled into the box on the right side against a Garnet back and chipped a shot from a difficult angle that hit the underside of the crossbar and settled into the side of the net at the far post.
The second career goal for May
(pictured above) marked only the second time since 2010 that the Mules (2-3-2, 0-2) scored a goal in the first five minutes of a game.
Swarthmore (5-0-1, 2-0), ranked fifth in Region V by United Soccer Coaches, did not allow the good feeling to last long, equalizing at the 4:50 mark and taking the lead for good in the 10th minutes. The Garnet added two more goals, one in each half.
Junior
Grace Hoffman played the final 49 minutes in goal, making three saves while allowing only one goal.
