The Muhlenberg baseball team suffered its third one-run loss in its last seven games, falling 3-2 at Ursinus.
The Mules (13-22-1, 6-9) manufactured both of its runs in the top of the first. Junior
Jack Kent led off with a walk, stole second and went to third on a single by senior
Christian Schwarz. After a groundout brought in one run, senior
Caleb Tereska knocked in the second with a two-out single.
That would be all the scoring for Muhlenberg, however. The Bears (15-21, 7-7) scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to take the lead. The Mules got the tying run into scoring position in both the eighth and ninth innings but could not push it across.
Schwarz and Tereska each had two hits, and Tereska also threw out a runner at the plate from right field.
Junior
Ryan Friesen (pictured above) threw a solid six innings, tying his career high with 7 strikeouts. Junior
Andrew DeLucia and sophomore
Ethan Brochin each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
