A blitz at the end of the first quarter was the difference as the Muhlenberg women's basketball team fell at Johns Hopkins, 77-55.

The Mules (6-3, 1-3) trailed only 15-14 after sophomore Avery McNulty made a free throw with just 1:47 remaining in the opening period. The Blue Jays (6-1, 4-0), who received votes in the latest D3hoops.com poll, closed the frame on an 11-2 run, however, hitting two three-pointers and converting two steals into five points to suddenly open up a 10-point lead.

Muhlenberg got within seven, at 28-21, on a three-pointer by junior Ava Connolly but could not keep pace with Hopkins, which shot better than 55 percent from the field in both the first and third quarters.

Junior Rachel Saxton (pictured above) tied her career high with 16 points, while Connolly finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
