The Muhlenberg women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 64-55 home win against Hartwick.
The win was the 400th in the career of Mule head coach
Ron Rohn. With a career record of 400-167 in his 22nd season, he is the winningest coach in College athletic history.
As in many of the first 399 victories, Muhlenberg built an early lead against Hartwick and kept its opponent at a safe distance the rest of the way.
A jumper by junior
Rachel Saxton on an inbounds pass from junior
Ava Connolly with 4:11 left in the first quarter gave the Mules a 14-12 lead, and the Hawks (0-2) never drew even.
Muhlenberg led by double digits for most of the third quarter. Hartwick closed to within six twice in the fourth, the last time with 2:02 remaining, but a three by Saxton on the next possession was the dagger.
Connolly led the Mules with 13 points and did not commit a turnover in 37 minutes. Saxton finished with 11 points and 4 assists, and junior
Emily Unger netted 12 points to get the better of her older sister Caitie, who plays for Hartwick.
Senior
Caroline Horst (8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks) and junior
Jenna Stockfeder (6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 3 steals) contributed in the paint for the Mules.Â
