The Muhlenberg field hockey team scored in each quarter en route to its first win of the season, 5-2 at Eastern.
The five goals were the most scored by the Mules (1-2) since a 5-0 shutout of Moravian in 2017. Since field hockey switched from halves to quarters in 2019, it's the first time the Mules have scored in each quarter.
Four different players accounted for the five goals, with freshman
Abba Diglio scoring two. Diglio, who netted her first career goal in Saturday's home opener vs. DeSales, is the first Muhlenberg freshman in the 2000s to score three goals in the first three games of the season.Â
Senior
Kaitlyn Hennelly opened the scoring late in the first quarter by knocking in a cross from sophomore
Erin Jackson for her first career goal. The Eagles (1-2) answered with two goals in the final 1:14 of the quarter, but the Mule defense pitched a shutout for the rest of the game.
Diglio's two second-quarter goals gave Muhlenberg the lead for good, and both were assisted by Erins - Jackson on the first and freshman
Erin DiSandro, who recorded her first career point, on the second.
Sophomore
Zabelle Aslanian (pictured above) and senior
Mallory Holson gave the Mules some breathing room in the second half, each scoring her first goal of the season.
