Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Scores Four in Win

Two players scored two goals apiece as the Muhlenberg field hockey team came from behind to win at McDaniel, 4-1.

The four goals were the most scored by the Mules in a Centennial Conference road game since 2013, when they won 6-0 at Bryn Mawr.

Junior Nicole Randazza scored the first and third goals, doubling her career total coming into the game. Freshman Erin DiSandro netted the second and fourth goals - the first two goals of her career.

McDaniel (4-5, 0-3) jumped on top with 4:26 left in the first quarter, but the Mules (4-5, 2-1) responded less than three minutes later when Randazza blasted in a shot from the wing off a penalty corner.

The game remained tied until Muhlenberg scored two goals in a span of 76 seconds midway through the third quarter.

Sophomore Mikayla DeMichele set up the go-ahead goal by intercepting a McDaniel pass near midfield and dribbling down the field before sending a centering pass to freshman Abby Diglio in the circle. When the Green Terror goalie came out to challenge Diglio, the Mules' leading scorer sent a nifty pass ahead to DiSandro, who scored into the empty cage.

Junior Katie Raab set up each of the last two Muhlenberg goals, both off of penalty corners, feeding Randazza on the first one and DiSandro on the second.

And while the Mules scored three goals on penalty corners, they defended them very well, not allowing McDaniel a goal on eight second-half corners. The Green Terror took nine shots in the fourth quarter but did not connect on any of them. Sophomore Grace Leard made 5 of her 8 saves in the final period.

DiSandro (pictured above) became the second Mule freshman to record a multiple-goal game this season, joining Diglio.
