Despite a tremendous defensive effort, the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team fell at 17th-ranked Gettysburg, 5-3.
The loss left the Mules (8-5, 4-3) in a tie with Franklin & Marshall for fourth place in the Centennial Conference with one game remaining in the regular season. They can earn a CC playoff berth with a win against McDaniel and an Ursinus loss to Gettysburg in Saturday's regular-season finales.
Gettysburg (10-6, 5-2) came in averaging 12 goals in its first six CC games but was blanked in the first half by the Muhlenberg defense. Goals by senior
Matt Marrella, sophomore
Wyatt Malia and junior
Dominick Visintin gave Muhlenberg a 3-0 lead at the break.
The Bullets returned the favor in the second half, however, blanking the Mules for the final 30 minutes. They drew even with 1:12 left in the third quarter and netted the only two goals of the fourth.
Junior
Max May made 16 saves, a career high for a CC game. Senior
Maxwell Seeber (pictured above) caused three turnovers, and senior
Kyle Lando forced two.
