The Muhlenberg softball team rebounded from a tough loss to defeat Dickinson, 6-2, in the second game of a doubleheader.
The Red Devils (8-15, 2-6) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the win in the opener, 2-1.
Sophomore
Sabrina Reichelt used her speed to ignite both Mule run-scoring innings in the nightcap. In the fourth, with Muhlenberg trailing 1-0, Reichelt
(pictured above) beat out a bunt right in front of home plate. She went to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore
Gillian Zack and scampered to third when the ball got loose on the infield. Reichelt scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by senior
Genna Cicchetti.
Two innings later, Reichelt beat out a drag bunt to the pitcher with one out to begin a five-run rally. The next four hitters - Zack, Cicchetti, freshman Kaitlyn Burrman and freshman
Kaya Mahy - all hit singles, with the latter three bringing in a run each to put the Mules (9-15, 2-4) ahead, 4-1. Two more runs came in on an error.
Senior
Cora Bridgers went the distance, allowing seven hits and fanning six, to earn her 22nd career victory. Her first strikeout, on the first batter she faced, was the 250th of her career.
Muhlenberg plated its lone run of the opener on a first-inning wild pitch. The score remained 1-0 for the bulk of the game, with sophomore
Raya Kunes taking a shutout into the final inning before Dickinson came back.
