The Muhlenberg women's basketball team fought back but dropped its second game in Puerto Rico, 55-51 to The College of New Jersey.
The Mules (4-5), who led by as many as 10 early in the game, trailed by two points at halftime and by four entering the fourth quarter. The Lions (7-4) made a three to open the fourth-quarter scoring and extend their margin to seven, but the Muhlenberg defense held them to two field goals the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Jenna Stockfeder went 3-for-4 from the line on back-to-back possessions to cut the margin to 45-41, and sophomore
Emily Vaughan drove in for a lefty layup that made it 47-44 with just over four minutes remaining. TCNJ made a big three on the next possession to double its advantage and connected on enough free throws down the stretch to keep the Mules at bay.
Sophomore
Rachel Saxton led the Mules with a season-high 13 points on the strength of three three-pointers. Graduate student
Margaux Eripret added 12 points and 3 blocked shots, while Stockfeder
(pictured above) finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds.
In their first game in Puerto Rico, the Mules fell to Greensboro, 75-45. Sophomore
Emily Unger drained a pair of threes in the first four minutes to stake Muhlenberg to an early 8-4 lead, but the Pride (8-2) took over control with a 15-1 run and maintained a double-digit advantage for the final three quarters.
Eripret and sophomore
Ava Connolly scored a team-leading 7 points apiece vs. Greensboro.
