The Muhlenberg women's basketball team kept it close for a half before falling at DeSales, 58-49.
Playing on the road against a Bulldog squad that is just outside the top 25 in the D3hoops.com preseason poll and defeated its first two opponents by an average of 48.5 points, the Mules (1-1) trailed by only two points, 30-28, at halftime. But Muhlenberg did not make a field goal for the first five minutes of the third quarter, and DeSales went on a 14-1 run to break the game open.Â
The Bulldogs maintained a double-digit advantage for most of the final 15 minutes of the game.
Sophomore
Ava Connolly (pictured above) led all scorers with 16 points, doubling her previous career high. She went 6-for-7 from the field and also dished out 4 assists.
Graduate student
Margaux Eripret finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth straight double-double, and junior
Caroline Horst flirted with her first double-double, recording 9 points on 4-of-4 shooting and a career-high 8 rebounds. Eripret also blocked 4 shots.
