The Washington College men's soccer team put in an early goal and held on to defeat Muhlenberg, 1-0.
It was the second straight loss for the 17th-ranked Mules (4-2-1, 1-1), and the second straight win against a nationally ranked Centennial Conference team for the Shoremen (6-2, 2-0), who in their previous game unseated then-No. 2 Franklin & Marshall.
Washington scored on a headed-in free kick in the ninth minute and kept Muhlenberg off the board the rest of the hard-fought game. The Mules had a chance in the final few minutes on a shot in the box by junior
Taylan Akdag (pictured above), but it was deflected into the side of the net, and the Mules could not cash in on the ensuing corner kick.
Junior
Brendan Duffy kept Muhlenberg within a goal by making a tremendous save at point-blank range in the 73rd minute.
