Trevor Virno led off the top of the 11th with his second career home run to lift the Muhlenberg baseball team to a comeback 6-5 win.
The victory salvaged a split for the Mules (3-3, 3-3), who dropped the first game 7-2.
Muhlenberg had to come from way behind to avoid getting swept. The Mules trailed 5-0 with one out in the eighth before senior
Skyler Petrie singled in their first run. Two batters later, with the bases loaded, junior
Danny Monzo delivered his second three-run pinch-hit double in the last three games to close the gap to one. With two outs, Virno singled to bring in junior pinch-runner
Ryan Gilbert with the tying run.Â
The Red Devils (5-3, 5-3) got the go-ahead run to third with one out in the bottom of the eighth, but freshman
Ryan Friesen escaped the jam with a strikeout and a popout.
Freshman catcher
Jake Braet threw out a runner attempting to steal in the bottom of the ninth, sending the game to extra innings.
Both teams advanced a runner to second in the 10th without cashing in. VirnoÂ
(pictured above) broke the tie in the 11th with his fourth hit of the game, a blast over the fence in left field. It was the first extra-inning game-winning home run for the Mules since 2015.

Will Nomura worked around a hit batter in the bottom of the 11th for his fourth career save.Â
Friesen pitched four scoreless innings in relief to earn his first career win.
In the opening game, Muhlenberg trailed 3-0 before scoring twice in the seventh on an RBI single by freshman
Jack Kent and an error. The Red Devils scored three times in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach.
