Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lax Puts Away Dickinson

Three players recorded hat tricks as the Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team broke into the win column in a big way, 15-9 against Dickinson.

The Red Devils (2-2, 1-2) have been receiving votes in the Division III poll all season. When the teams played two weeks ago in Carlisle, the Mules (1-3, 1-1) let a 7-3 halftime lead slip away and lost, 11-10, in quadruple-overtime.

This time it was Muhlenberg that owned the latter stages of the game, breaking open a 5-5 tie at the half with a 10-2 run.

Senior Ethan Grossman tied a career high with 5 goals to run his career total to 99. In addition to reaching the century mark, he has a chance to break the program's all-time records in both career goals (two away) and assists (one away) in the Mules' next game.

Sophomore Jack Kraemer registered his third career hat trick, adding a pair of assists to tie his career high of 5 points. Freshman Wyatt Malia scored in each of the first three quarters to net his first career hat trick.

Sophomore Max May was sensational in goal, tying his career high of 15 saves in picking up his first win.

Malia's second goal, with 5:20 left in the second quarter, gave Muhlenberg a 5-2 lead, but Dickinson scored three times in the final five minutes to knot the game at 5-all.

Grossman converted a pass from Malia two minutes into the second half to put the Mules up for good. Senior Matt Burke won the ensuing faceoff and went straight to goal, burying the shot for his first career goal and giving Muhlenberg two goals in nine seconds.

The Red Devils scored a little more than a minute later to cut the gap to one, 7-6, and the game remained closed as neither team scored for the next six minutes. Malia finally broke through at the 5:20 mark, starting a run of three goals in 2:17. Kraemer (pictured above) netted a man-up goal off a pass from freshman Ryan May, and senior defensive middie Alexander Giaquinto followed with his 13th career goal.

Muhlenberg led 11-6 after three and scored a quick goal early in the fourth when senior PJ Lombara intercepted an attempted clearing pass by the Dickinson goalie and fed Grossman, who beat the Red Devil defenseman covering the goal.

Senior long pole Matt Hager put the exclamation point on the Mules' first win against Dickinson since 2009 by scoring his second career goal with 2:50 left.

Sophomore Dominick Visintin contributed to the offense with 3 assists. Junior Kyle Lando picked up 5 ground balls, and junior Maxwell Seeber scooped up 6 grounders for the second straight game.
