A goal with 49 seconds left sent the Muhlenberg women's soccer team to a 2-1 loss to Gettysburg in its season finale.
The regionally ranked Bullets (11-3-2, 5-3-2) were in a must-win game to make the Centennial Conference playoffs, but it was the Mules (3-13-1, 1-9) who had the lead at halftime. Sophomore
Kate Johnson drew a foul in the box in the 29th minute, and junior
Noemi Di Cori converted the penalty kick for her seventh goal of the season.
After Muhlenberg missed on a second PK try in the second half, Gettysburg netted the equalizer in the 60th minute and scored the dramatic winner off a throwin in the final minute.
Sara Pecorelli made seven saves, including a pair at point-blank range, to finish the season with 81 stops, the second-most ever by a Mule freshman.
Prior to the game, Muhlenberg honored seniors
Cece Peden,
Kayleigh Durning,
Lindsay Scott and
Lauren Aviram.
